Timbre Rock and Roots Festival

Singapore – March 30-31, 2012

For American expats living abroad, Singapore’s Rock and Roots Festival probably offers the best sounds of home. For the third year in a row, this two-day fest will import some of the biggest names in popular music—last year featured the almighty Bob Dylan as well as John Legend and Michael Franti and Spearhead—for an outdoor party on the bank of the Singapore River at the Marina Promenade.

BaliSpirit Festival

Ubud, Bali, Indonesia – March 28-April 1, 2012

Find inner peace on a tropical Indonesian island during this celebration of yoga, dance and music. Daytime events for the 5th annual BaliSpirit Festival will be held in the Purnati Center for the Arts in Batuan and nightly world music performances featuring a host of international artists will take place outside at the Agung Rai Museum of Art in Jln Pengoseken, Ubud.

Concert passes for the fest cost $75 in advance and $90 at the door. All-access tickets to the workshops and musical events run between $475-625. balispiritfestival.com 

 

Pulp Summer Slam 12: The Apostles

Quezon City, Manila, Philippines – April 28, 2012

This one-day-only metal fest in the capital of the Philippines is split evenly between international headliners and local rock groups. So far, the Pulp Magazine-sponsored event will bring in Arch Enemy, August Burns Red, Blessthefall, Darkest Hour, Periphery and We Came as Romans, as well as six additional bands that will be announced soon.
